Figure 19. Depth profile showing how chlorophyll concentrations (μg/L) vary with
depth (m), between six different time intervals (UTC). Measurements were taken using
the chlorophyll samples collected from the Niskin bottle at King Harry Ferry Pontoon
in the Fal estuary.
Chlorophyll concentration generally increased from the surface water down to 3m before
decreasing again from 3 to 5m. However there appears to be no correlation over time
in the results when referring to figure 19, as none of the chlorophyll profiles follow
the same pattern. At 09:35 and 10:40 UTC chlorophyll concentrations exceed 10µg/L
at 3m and 4m respectively. There may be a calibration error as there are negative
concentration values, for example the surface water values at 10:10 UTC. Alternatively,
these values may have been below the detection threshold of the fluorometer.
