Figure 55: Dissolved oxygen profiles at each stations.

Profiles of dissolved oxygen measured at different stations in ascending order of distance from the coast. The Dissolved oxygen is measured using the CTD while descending. The graph shows a  general trend of increasing dissolved oxygen with depth.  Station 40 has an oxycline at around 20 meters, which is more profound than at other stations. The phytoplankton biomass between 15-20 meters was found to be higher than any depth and station sampled. This corresponds to the deeper chlorophyll maxima which is initiated by highly stratified water at the station 40.
