Inshore Nutrients

Silicon

The silicon estuary mixing diagram showed a non-conservative behaviour with a steady removal with increasing salinity (Figure.1). At the river endmember and sea water endmember the dissolved silicon concentrations (µmol/L) fall directly on the theoretical dilution line (TDL).

Nitrogen

The total dissolved nitrogen (NO3 + NO2 µmol/L) shows a conservative behaviour down the Tamar estuary (Figure.2).

Phosphate

Meanwhile the dissolved PO4 shows a non-conservative behaviour (Figure.3). The PO4 is added in the lower salinity range and abruptly falls onto the TDL at salinities greater than 30. The river is observed to be the source of all three dissolved nutrients.
