RV ‘Callista’

A 19.75m catamaran belonging to University of Southampton, purposely built for teaching and research, with a large rear deck and A-frame for equipment deployment (southampton.ac.uk)


MTS ‘Terramare’

A 26.3 x 7m twin screw landing craft, a multipurpose vessel that was hired by the university for the duration of the field course.

RV ‘Bill Conway’

An 11.74m  Lochin 38, purpose built for teaching and research with a large open deck fit with A-frame and side davit (southampton.ac.uk)

Through out the field course five different vessels were used in order to collect data. Below is a brief description of each vessel:

‘Winnie-the-Pooh’

A private fishing boat hired by the university for the duration of the field course. Smaller than RV ‘Bill Conway’ meaning she allowed transport further up the estuary.

MTS ‘Xplorer’

A 12 x 5.5m Fastcat survey vessel hired by the university for the duration of the field course
