Phytoplankton Estuary abundance:
Station N
Station N is extremely dominated by Nithcsia longissima with 70% of the phytoplankton found being of this species. Kerenia mikimotoi was the second most abundant with 16% of the total phytoplankton numbers. The species richness is 9 and the species evenness is 0.479.
Station O
Station O is highly dominated by Cilindrotheca closterium with 97% of the plankton abundance. The species richness is 5 and the species evenness is o.108. the total phytoplankton count is 233 individuals per millilitre.
Station P
Station P is largely dominated by Criptomonas spp with 91% of the abundance. The species richness is 6 and the species evenness is 0.226. The total phytoplankton count was 362 individuals per millilitre.
Station Q
Station Q is dominated by Criptomonas spp with 96% of the abundance. The species richness is 7 and species evenness is 0.215. The total phytoplankton count was 1602 individuals per millilitre.
Figure 1: Contour plot of temperature changes with depth and time measured with a multiprobe 07.07.2017 between 08:29 and 11:32 UTC at the location of lat xxx and lon xx.
Figure 2: Contour plot of chlorophyll changes with depth and time measured with a multiprobe 07.07.2017 between 08:29 and 11:32 UTC at the location of lat xxx and lon xx.
Description
Figure 1 shows vertical temperature contours in the beginning of the time series spreading more out and turning more horizontally around 10:00-11:00 UTC. In the end of the time series the contours in the surface layer are closing together and aligning diagonally.
Figure 2 shows an overall low chlorophyll concentration in the surface layer throughout the time series of measurements. Both around 10:00 and 11:00 UTC the chlorophyll shows a peak at 2 meters depth with a lower concentration at 3 meters. In the end of the time series the peak moves deeper to 3 meters.
