Research Interests

  • Geochemistry of basaltic magmatism in the ocean basins. Reykjanes Ridge, 29N Mid-Atlantic Ridge: Mantle dynamics in the North Atlantic Nature and origins of the Iceland Hotspot. Isotopic signatures within the Icelandic source - implications for recycling processes between the crust, mantle and core.
  • Volcanology and geochemistry of Island Arc magmatism. Subduction processes and element fluxes in the Western Pacific Island arcs.
  • Spatial and temporal geochemical variation. Statistical treatment of geochemical an isotopic parameters constrained by geography and age.
  • Uranium and plutonium isotopes in the environment. Detection of sources of anthropogenic radioactive contamination of surficial deposits and biogenic material.
  • Development of radiogenic isotope ratio measurement. Thermal ionisation mass spectrometry and plasma-source multi-collector mass spectrometry.
