Hadley Centre participation in RAPID-WATCH

The Met Office Hadley Centre has an active programme of research in predicting the MOC and its impacts on climate. Collaboration is welcome in any of the areas of RAPID_WATCH.

Questions 3 and 4 of the general call require close partnership with the Hadley Centre to be demonstrated. To assist potential bidders in formulating ideas, this document gives a brief outline of current and planned work at the Hadley Centre on these questions, together with some ideas on current research gaps.

The ideas are intended to be suggestive, not prescriptive or exhaustive. Potential bidders are welcome (but not required) to contact the scientists named below for further discussion before submitting outline bids. The goal of the Hadley Centre is to work with the RAPID_WATCH community to devise a joint programme of research that will deliver robust predictions of the future of the MOC and its effects on climate.
