7 July 2011 Sseaglider "Bellatrix is launched off shore of Gran Canaria.

6 October 2010: Glider Bellamite was successfully deployed off Gran Canaria by Lucas Merckelbach, Carlso Barrrera and colleagues. The vehicle will complete a sequence of test dives for 12 hours before starting the journey to RAPID sampling site east of Feuteventura. As usual, the near-real time performances of the glider can be followed on the live data page.

6th August 2010: We are graetful to the Coastgaurd of the Canary Islands for recoverig our glider from the ocean south of Fueteventura. The vehcile had developed a small leak the day before. Each glider has a leak detect sensor and just a few millilitre of water will trigger the detector. Once the leak was detected the vehicle was kept at the surfae to minimise the chance of more water penetratign the vehicle.

29th July 2010: Today Paul Wright and Carlos Barrera successfully deployed glider Dynamite on her second mission in the Atlantic Ocean.

2nd Juen 2010: Followiing the formation of the new National Oceanography Centre in April the two glider teams from Southampton and Liverpool met today to dsicuss how they would work together within the new centre. Currently four deep Slocum gliders are based in NOC-Southampton and three shallow glider will soon be housed at NOC-Liverpool. More information about the work at Liverpool can be found here.
