OneGeology - from concept to reality

OneGeology is an international initiative with the aim of create dynamic geological map data of the world available via the web.

A collaborative project of geological surveys across the world, and a flagship project of the International Year of Planet Earth, OneGeology will create a focus to give access geological information for everyone.

Ian Jackson of the British Geological Survey is the project’s coordinator and he will present the latest in the National Oceanography Centre’s G3 series of seminars on Tuesday 13 January at 4pm.

The centre’s Peter Miles is President of the sub-commission of the Commission for the Geological Map of the World which is providing seafloor geology maps for the project, including Peter's recently completed map of the North Atlantic.

This is an open seminar in the National Oceanography Centre’s Conference Room, but space is very limited. External visitors will need to arrive in good time to be registered and escorted to the Conference Room.
