Sea Systems supports complex multi-disciplinary science cruises worldwide for the UK’s oceanographic research centres and Universities. This involves: typically using eight ships of different nationalities, for about 35 cruises annually, all supported by 60 staff using £25m of equipment, and operated from Southampton. The science cruises are undertaken across all the world's major oceans, also ‘in and under’ the ice of the Arctic and Antarctic. During cruises staff operate on board the ships 24 hours a day delivering quality science data in rugged and harsh ocean environment.
