The Isis ROV and Autosub 2 have joined TOBI, SHRIMP and BRIDGET within the NMEP, making them avaliable to the UK marine science community through standard NMEP arrangements. For more information contact the NMEP Manager (Natalie Campbell)
In July 2006 Isis completed successful trials on board the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) ship James Clark Ross. Following significant preparatory work onboard the ship, including the installation of a USBL acoustic positioning system, this was the first opportunity to prove the capability of the ship to operate the ROV. Successful completion of these trials has now cleared the vehicle for use from the James Clark Ross and following these Isis is scheduled to conduct a major science cruise off the Antarctic Peninsula in early 2007.
