Integrated provision of hardware and services to UK marine science.

Sea Systems supports over 30 research cruises every year, some 20 of which will be on Sea System operated vessels (RRS Discovery and RRS James Cook). Cruise operational details are published on the Marine Facilities Planning website.

Sea Systems supports all UK Marine Science. The descriptions of each area within Sea Systems is described below.

 

Operations

Responsible for day-to-day coordination of all Sea Systems activities in support of cruises within the NERC Marine Facilities Programme (MFP). The Program Manager (mfprog@noc.soton.ac.uk) oversees the planning and service coordination of Sea systems for each cruise, and cruise operational details are published on the

 

Engineering

With responsibility for all foundation engineering services including the ships' engineers. The National Marine Equipment Pool (NMEP) manager is now a separate role within Sea Systems.
