RRS Discovery Replacement Project

A project to replace RRS Discovery commenced in June 2007 with the intention of providing a multirole oceanographic vessel to the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).

Funding for the project will be made available from the Large Facilities Capital Fund (LFCF) administered by the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) and the Natural Environment Research Council. The funding is contingent on the satisfactory completion of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) Gateway process in order to access funding. The OGC Gateway Process examines a programme or project at five critical stages in its lifecycle to provide assurance that it can successfully progress to the next stage.
