LSO Data Holdings

The Laboratory for Satellite Oceanography has collected extensive datasets, many of which are available to users within NOCS and some of which are available to outside users.

We are in the process of transfering many of our data holdings on to the NOCS archive server. Once the archive server search engine is live, most of our data will will searchable via this route. In the meantime, these page summarise the data we have, and helps point prospective users in the right direction.
However, these data listings are not comprehensive, so please contact the LSO Data Manager (room 254/30) if you can't find what you need or require assistance to access data.

For users outside NOCS, two datasets are available remotely:

• The GADGET database of gridded geophysical data includes satellite-derived parameters, climatologies, ocean/land masks and topography. For access to GADGET data, please contact the LSO Data Manager.
• The GAPS database conatins global datasets from three recent radar altimeter missions, processed using the Global Altimeter Processing Scheme (GAPS). Users are required to register before using the GAPS extraction tool.

For users within NOCS, these additional resources are available

• LSO Datasets gives an overview of the datasets that we have available within the LSO.
• The NOCS Media Database can be used to search for offline data held on CDROM or EXABYTE. Choose 'Select' and search by 'owner' SATMAN, or, for a more specific search, by 'contents' and type a short description of the data.

(Please note that access to the media database and online data is only possible for internal users.)
