Hydrocarbon Consortium - Home
The NOCS Hydrocarbon Consortium is a group of leading scientists and engineers engaged in research relevant to the hydrocarbon industries. Our science and technology encompasses the theory, practice and policy aspects of hydrocarbon exploration and production across the marine disciplines. Our research and development activities cover field, laboratory, and modeling studies.
In marine geology our expertise includes controlled source electro-magnetic and acoustic surveying, rock physics, turbidites, hydrates, geohazards, core description and archival.
Our environmental expertise includes deep-water ecosystems, ROV-based science, impact assessment and monitoring, habitat mapping and ocean observing systems.
NOCS chemists and geoscientists work closely on hydrates, carbon capture and storage. Our physicists cover ocean circulation and climate research, modeling processes from local to global scales.
Our engineering expertise includes world-leading autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) for deep-ocean and under ice surveys.
NOCS is a world-leader in oceanographic research and can also offer world-class training and education within the cutting-edge research environment at NOCS.
