JRD Resource Teams

The Hydrography Team determine the structure of the ocean - how the oceans temperature and salinity varies with depth and from region to region - the strength and direction of the ocean currents
The Research Ship James Clark Ross
Results from the OCCAM model The Large-Scale Modelling Team construct and analyse detailed computer models of the global ocean circulation
The Meteorology Team study the transfers across the ocean surface - for example, heat, water momentum, and gases such as CO2 Meteorological instruments on a research ship
Schematic of flow over sills The Process Modelling Team study local processes in the ocean - for example the flow through straits or over sills
The Satellite Remote Sensing Team and the Laboratory for Satellite Oceanography study the ocean using satellite borne sensors - they also seek new ways of interpreting the satellite data The ENVISAT environmental satellite
