Detailed Investigation of Surface Temperature and Freshwater Fluxes (DISTAFF)

A successful proposal in response to the IRS-P4 AO

Background
Oceansat-1 (IRS-P4) is an Indian satellite launched on 29th May 1999 by the Indian Space research Organisation (ISRO). It carries 2 sensors, an Ocean Color Monitor (OCM) and a Multi-frequency Scanning Microwave Radiometer (MSMR); further details of the satellite and instruments can be found at: http://www.nrsaftp.gov.in.
DISTAFF is a proposal to evaluate the accuracy of some of the geophysical parameters that can be derived from the microwave channels, and use them in oceanographic studies. The writers of this proposal were: Graham Quartly, Meric Srokosz, Peter Challenor and Craig Donlon; however to-date most of the work is being done by James Harle.
