Bernoulli Inverse

The Bernoulli Inverse is a mathematical model that predicts sea surface height from in situ temperature and salinity observations. Using the prediction of sea surface height a geostrophic reference velocity can be added to the relative geostrophic velocity calculated from the temperature and salinity profiles. Hence, the total geostrophic circulation is known.

This inverse method has recently been extended by Stuart Cunningham. A Ph.D. thesis and paper give details of the latest methodology.
