Between 1993 and 2000 the Southampton Oceanography Centre and the British Antarctic Survey completed six occupations of the WOCE section SR1b across Drake Passage. This section runs from Burdwood Bank south of the Falkland Islands to Elephant Island near the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. The section consists of at least 30 full depth CTD stations (dots) that were supplemented in 1996,1997 and 2000 with lowered ADCP observations. All measurements have been made from the RRS James Clark Ross adding value to her logistic runs to the British Antarctic bases on the Peninsula.
