All six of the 3 month visiting Fellows have been appointed and successfully completed their Fellowships.

The BIOTRACS three month fellows were:

1. Sebastian Steigenberger, who worked with Professor Peter Statham in Southampton from June to October 2006. He looked at the effect of polysaccharides on the iron speciation in seawater.

2. Axel Heimann, who worked with Professor Jon Lloyd in Manchester from October to December 2006. He looked at hydrogen levels associated with microbial reduction of iron oxides and the release of sediment-bound arsenic.

3. Cristina Moisescu, who worked with Prof. Liane Benning in Leeds from February to May 2007, on microscopic characterization of bacterial magnetosomes at high resolution.

4. Paula Marin Sanchez who worked with Dr Rachel Mills in Southampton from March to May 2007 on sequential extractions for transition metals in hydrothermal sediments.

5. Michal Sypula, who worked with Prof. Peter Statham in Southampton March to May 2007, on the optimization of a flow injection analysis system for dissolved Mn in seawater.

6. Kleopatra Detsi, who worked in Bristol with Dr Richard Pancost and in Leeds with Prof. Liane Benning from April to July 2007. Kleopatra's project was Metalliferous hyrdothermal systems and biomineralization at the South Aegean volcanic arc.
